Samsung LN22C450 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) Review

I am extremely happy with the performance of this TV, though I was initiatlly confused because the product is slightly different than the description on Amazon. There is only 1 HDMI port on the back on my model and nothing on the side of the TV. There is a USB but it’s on the back. My model is definitely the LN22C450 but I spoke with Samsung and they told me that there is another LN22C450 that has an additional HDMI port on the side. Don’t know why they have more than one model with the same name. I contacted Amazon about the issue and they offered me a discount which made me forget about the problem. I was impressed by the customer service dept. with Amazon. I liked the idea of a side HDMI connection, but I don’t really need two HDMI ports so it wasn’t a big enough deal. It would have been nice to have the USB on the side, for easier access, but I can live with reaching around the back since I’m not wall mounting it.
Now on to what I love about the TV:
-It has an excellent picture quality for all types of signals. I’m replacing a 15″ Polariod and the quality is light years ahead. The picture is very bright with vivid colors. Regular cable is very clear and smooth, digital 480i cable looks great, and the 720p and 1080i are incredible.
-The sound is more than sufficient for a TV this size. It’s rich and clear without the “tinny” sound of other TV’s this size.
-The TV has a great digital tuner and picks up “over the air” HD stations very well. There’s even a diagnostic signal strength meter. I’m able to pick up all my local network stations without any problems. I have a digital box I purchased that could not do this. I was thrilled to pull in HD signals without a separate antenna. I did not expect it to do this.
-It is well designed and easy to use. The menus are easy to follow and the setup is simple. Even the remote is great.
-It’s a great looking TV. The speakers are hidden and it has a slight reddish tint to it near the bottom. It also has a nice low profile. It is about an inch shorter than the C350 even though the screen size is identical. I really liked this since I have it placed on a bookshelf. It’s a perfect fit for the room I have it in.

Overall, this TV is awesome. I’m thoroughly enjoying march madness in HD!

Samsung LN46B650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review

I just had to write a bad review about the same size Sony Bravia and it was pretty painful. I traded it for this knowing it would be better, but not knowing how much better. The picture is just amazing right out of the box, i made a few adjustments with the smoothing, and a few other things just to suit myself. Right away i viewed some trialers, Iron Man 2, Shrek 4, How to Train Your Dragon, and a few other things, and the difference is just like night and day. There is no grainyness to the picture what so ever, the smoothing is flawless and the sound is well, almost TO loud depending on how you fix it up. But hey i’d rather have to much volume than not enough. I got this bad boy on clearance at Best Buy for 1199$, regular price was 1899$, showing its definitely a higher end model TV, even if its not this years model. So stay away from the Sony Bravias and if you try to compare them, don’t bother, the Vizios i have seen people have even far surpass the Sony, and even though i’m a huge fan of them i just can’t believe how bad the Bravia i purchased was. So stick with Samsung folks, i remember back in about 2007 when the LCDs really started getting big and i saw a Samsung for the first time right next to a few others. I told my wife at the time wow look at the difference in the quality of this compared to the others, she was pretty mistified herself, which was unusual. These Tv’s are rated number 1 for a reason, and when you pop it out of the box and feast your eyes on everything from Blu rays to HD tv channels to games, you’ll see why they are so. Now lets just hope reliability wise it lasts. Later.:D

Samsung LNT2342H 23-Inch LCD HDTV Review

After holding of on getting an LCD TV I finally gave in once one of our analog TVs went on the fritz. After checking out a slew of them from many consumer electronic retailers a Samsung LNT2342H 23-inch LCD caught my eye..the price was good also..under 0 which is around what I wanted to spend. Well the sales guy began to educate me on HDMI connections..upscaling DVD players and how I was going to be amazed at the clarity of high definition digital vs analog. Needless to say I was excited…I couldn’t believe how light the box was..set up was a breeze and hooking it up to my cable box was a snap. Within minutes I was viewing an unbelievable picture and I still hadn’t gotten an HDMI cable, HD cable box or upscaling DVD player yet. All that was to come in the next couple of days. The HDMI cable is the way to go! They are rather expensive in most retail stores but if you order them online you can get them much cheaper. I ordered one (a 6 foot one) from Amazon for 11.99 and got it within a couple of days. So once I plugged in my HD cable box and upscaling DVD player I was enjoying sight and sound at 1080p! I can never go analog again…LOL!

The picture on this set is gorgeous! The set itself is super nice and I love the remote…very intuitive and easy to use. The source button toggles you from all your connections and the menu button allows you to adjust your screen size within seconds if you needed to. What I have been missing!

Now I want to get a bigger one for my living room..one I can mount on the wall. My kids love it! We watched “Flushed Away” the other day and were so amazed at the colors and clarity! The HDMI connection brings you the best results picture wise and audio wise so ditch all your phono cables and spring for HDMI! I had picked up a RCA upscaling DVD player at Wal Mart and it works perfectly with this LCD TV..you truly do get a 1080p experience with your standard DVDs. It’s awesome!

I highly recommend this Samsung..aesthetically it’s a gem and the picture speaks a thousand words!

Samsung HLN507W 50-Inch Widescreen Projection HDTV with DLP Technology

June 21st, 2010

Samsung HLN507W 50-Inch Widescreen Projection HDTV with DLP Technology Review

Awesome picture, easy to move, shallow depth and great quality over all.

Folks giving it one Star prolly cannot figure out how to turn one on. DLP is a great solution because there is Zero Burn in concern. Meaning you can watch all your favorite shows in the correct format without worrying about burning in. Also means you do not have to deal with distorted “Fat People”.

It’s also nice that the DLP does not dominate the room unlike all of the older bigscreens this thing is easy to move and only 17.5″ thin.

Good Stuff.

Update: Well another 3 years and I’ve replaced a bulb… Yup, same great picture, and has been flawless through three moves now. Couldn’t be happier. PS3, Wii, all look great. Starting to see the need for some updated technology perhaps, but still a great value.

Samsung HLN507W 50-Inch Widescreen Projection HDTV with DLP Technology Feature

  • 50-inch DLP-based high-definition widescreen projection television; 46.6 x 33.8 x 17.6 inches (W x H x D)
  • 13 video inputs, including DVI-HDTV, PC, and DVD (480i/p)
  • 1,280 x 720 resolution for a clear, detailed picture
  • 2-tuner PIP with side-by-side split screen
  • 15 watts per channel x 2; Virtual Dolby surround simulates theater sound through any two speakers

Samsung HLN507W 50-Inch Widescreen Projection HDTV with DLP Technology Overview

Samsung introduces a new generation digital TV that finally addresses high-definition performance, compact design and affordability when compared to other flat panel designs. The HLN507W displays 50 inches of breathtaking wide-screen viewing area that is elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing about 78 pounds and a mere 17.6 inches deep, the HLN507W fits almost anywhere. The secret to this engineering marvel – a compact digital projector powered by a single, postage stamp sized Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) that generates high definition video images. These video images are created by proprietary digital light processing (DLP) techniques, and then magnified by an advanced array of optics. Its fully digital video design processes combined with Samsung’s new DNIe video enhancer optimizes all analog NTSC and wideband sources be it a VCR, DVD player, camcorder or TV programming from digital satellite receivers and HDTV tuners. The new DVI interface is compatible with the new generation cable, satellite and off-air high-definition receivers for a pure digital picture. Samsung’s HLN507W will also accommodate a computer too with no burn-in or screen-aging issues to worry about. Hang it, mount it, rest it on a stand or wall-unit, and simply move it anywhere, its size and weight offers more placement possibilities over any other TV design. Finally, Samsung lets you put TV in its place.

Samsung HLN507W 50-Inch Widescreen Projection HDTV with DLP Technology Specifications

Amazon.com Description The 50″ DLP projection TV displays a widescreen viewing area that is elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing about 80 pounds and only17.6 inches deep, it fits almost anywhere. You will experience perfect vision: Samsung’s DLP projection TV delivers unmatched brightness, contrast levels, and color accuracy, plus full digital convergence and a host of top-notch features. Its sleek design and lightweight construction also make this monitor possibly the most attractive and versatile TV your home has ever seen.

HDTV with DLP technology
Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology is found in leading digital cinemas the world over. The heart of DLP technology is a micro-display panel no larger than a postage stamp, which integrates 921,600 microscopic mirrors to deliver eye-popping, high-definition detail, color, and clarity. Samsung applies the magic of DLP technology to your home theater via its patented, compact optical engine that replaces the large, heavy picture tubes found in direct-view sets. Best of all, Samsung DLP projection TVs are lighter, more affordable, and use far less power than plasma TVs. Now you can enjoy the spine-tingling thrills of digital television in a sleek, tabletop design that’s significantly smaller, lighter, and brighter than a conventional projection TV. Samsung’s advanced convergence technologies also make DLP projection TVs compatible with your HDTV tuner, PC, DVD, game console, VCR, camcorder, digital camera, and much more.

Samsung optical engine
Samsung’s patented optical engine ensures maximum brightness, flicker-free video, detailed text, and still images, and a full 160-degree viewing angle. DLP micro-display technology and Samsung’s proprietary Bent Light Lens System give you a big-screen TV without the big-screen hassle. Its ultra-slim, ultra-lightweight design lets you put it virtually anywhere. And its optical engine is durable, long-lasting, and never needs calibrating.

Digital perfection
DLP technology is the only display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely digital connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen in front of you. The surface of the DLP panel is covered with almost a million micro-mirrors (1280 x 720) that act as pixels. This incredibly high pixel count creates a striking, digital image with seamless resolution, amazing detail, and brilliant, lifelike colors. And because the pixels are less than one micron apart, you won’t notice the “screen door” effect apparent with other TVs.

Ultra-smooth action
Samsung’s DLP micro-mirrors can switch on and off over 5,000 times a second–that’s up to 10 times faster than other micro-displays. This allows DLP Projection TV to smoothly and accurately display fast-switching content like HDTV and DVD.

Brighter and clearer

At 400 cd/m2, DLP outshines other micro-display technologies for a bright, clear picture, with incredible contrast and color accuracy. Its unique optical engine preserves the intensity of the original image with vibrant colors and rich, deep blacks. Its high, 1000:1 contrast ratio makes for ideal color separation and crisp, detailed images. That’s why Samsung’s DLP projection TV is perfect for any source material that demands minute detail, such as HDTV, computer images, and DVDs.

Consistent screen image
The DLP projection TV is much more durable than competing technologies because the display doesn’t physically age or deteriorate. Its ultra-high-pressure lamp delivers consistent light output and picture quality throughout its long lifespan.

Cinema progressive scan and 3:2 pulldown
The cinema progressive scan enhancement automatically upconverts all nondigital signals to a smooth, clear 720 lines of progressive scan. The 3:2 pulldown feature is a must for any movie enthusiast. It analyzes each frame of video, removing unclear frames that were added during the transfer from film to video. These added frames cause blurring, stuttering, and other motion artifacts, especially during fast-action sequences. 3:2 pulldown eliminates them and gives your DVDs a look and feel that’s much closer to film. Cinema progressive scan with 3:2 pulldown is powered by Faroudja’s patented DCDi video processing on Samsung DLP projection TVs.

1280 x 720 progressive display quality
Samsung delivers flicker-free, static images, thanks to its all-format conversion system. Progressive scan is a must for rock-steady text, still images, and smooth action sequences.

Wide viewing angle
Left side, right side, or upside-down–whatever your location, Samsung DLP projection TVs allow you to see any display clearly, thanks to its 160-degree-wide viewing angle. Unlike traditional projection TVs, the image doesn’t get darker as you move away from the center.

What’s in the Box
TV, remote control, two AAA batteries, and user’s manual.
